Designers Unite!
Join the Founders League on January 15 to kick off our new series of Co-Working "Jellies." Our first Jelly is for designers (of all stripes) and will be hosted by Hannah Chung and Nicole Mercer. This gathering is appropriate for experienced and new designers alike. If you like to make things, make things beautiful, or more elegant to use then this is the meetup for you!
What's a Jelly?
A “Jelly” is a casual working event. It's taken place in over a hundred cities where people have come together (in a person's home, a coffee shop, or an office) to work for a set period of time. The hosts provide seating, wireless internet, and interesting people to talk to, collaborate with, and bounce ideas off of. Participants bring a laptop (or whatever you need to get your work done) and a disposition to meet new people. The work time will be followed by an optional “peer critique” session where the group can have an open discussion about individual projects/issues.
About the Hosts:
Hannah went to Northwestern, where she studied mechanical engineering and design. She is the Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer at Sproutel, who create interactive toys for children with chronic illnesses. She is also the Co-founder of Design for America, an award-winning national initiative using design with the mission to be a network of student-led studios creating local and social impact through interdisciplinary design. In 2012, Hannah was listed as one of "Top 15 Women to Watch in Tech" by Inc.
Nicole is a RISD graduate and Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer at Thryve - the most innovative and fun way to track your meals while getting healthy. In 2011 she won the Alexander Graham Bell Award in the RISD Industrial Design Department for her work involving design of a project dealing with medical rehabilitation. Nicole specializes in product design, industrial design, and concept development.
